As a stay-at-home mother running a small business from home, I’ve mastered the art of multitasking. Between managing client emails, making sure my kids finish their homework, and keeping our golden retriever, Milo, from wreaking havoc, I rarely have time to notice the little things. So, when I first saw faint lines of sawdust along the baseboards of my home office, I brushed it off.

Weeks passed, and I started hearing faint clicking noises in the walls. My husband insisted it was just the house settling. Even when tiny, discarded wings started showing up near the windowsill, I didn’t want to believe we had a problem. It wasn’t until Milo began aggressively digging at one of the living room walls, whimpering as if he’d found a buried treasure, that I realized something was wrong.

Milo’s frantic clawing exposed what I had been avoiding—soft, crumbling wood where solid drywall should have been. I finally had to admit it: we had termites.

Finding a Safe and Effective Solution

My first instinct was to call an exterminator, but I hesitated. I’ve always been careful about the products I use in my home, choosing non-toxic cleaners and natural remedies whenever possible. The thought of industrial-strength pesticides filling the air my children and dog breathe made me anxious.

Determined to find a natural termite control company, I started researching companies that offered environmentally friendly pest control. That’s when I came across Natural Science Exterminating, an Orange County-based company specializing in natural and effective termite treatment.

The Natural Science Exterminating Approach

Unlike conventional exterminators who rely on harsh chemicals, Natural Science Exterminating uses eco-friendly treatments that are just as effective without the risk to your home or family. One of their primary treatments includes borate-based solutions, which penetrate deep into the wood, eliminating termites while remaining harmless to pets and children. They also use orange oil treatments, a powerful natural extract that kills termites on contact and leaves behind a pleasant citrus scent instead of toxic fumes.

Beyond extermination, the team at Natural Science Exterminating takes a holistic approach to termite control. They don’t just get rid of the problem—they help prevent it from happening again. Their specialists reinforced our home with preventative treatments designed to keep termites from returning. Even better, they provide in-house carpentry services to repair the damage, saving you from the headache of hiring another contractor.

Their care for their clients, tidiness, and efficacy are all well attested to in their online testimonials. Take a look:

Why Ignoring the Signs Can Cost You

If I had called for an inspection the moment I saw the first signs, I could have saved myself a lot of stress. Termites work quietly, often going unnoticed until the damage is extensive. What starts as a few scattered wings or a faint clicking noise can turn into thousands of dollars in repairs. Natural Science Exterminating offers free termite inspections, giving homeowners a chance to catch infestations early before they spiral out of control.

Don’t Wait—Get Your Free Inspection Today

Looking back, I wish I had acted sooner. Thankfully, Natural Science Exterminating was able to eliminate the infestation and restore my home without compromising my family’s safety. If you suspect termites in your home, don’t make the mistake I did—schedule a free inspection with Natural Science Exterminating today. Your home, your family, and even your pets will thank you.

Ever since graduating from college, I’ve fancied myself an extremely strong and independant woman. For years after graduating, I paid all of my own bills, I fixed and maintained my home (wherever or whatever form it took), and took out my own garbage – even if it required walking up and down 6 flights of stairs.

Even after I got married and started having kids, I made a point of ensuring that I had my own space and a path forward in the career that I chose. To this day, my husband is surprised whenever I ask his help for something, though he’s always willing.

Despite all of this, ever since I was a teenager, I’ve had one major weakness – bugs. I hate seeing them, hearing them, or even knowing that they may be somewhere near me. I’ve had to get landlords, boyfriends, or my husband to come take care of it whenever I spy even the smallest spider in my sleeping space.

Now, my husband has a very successful career in his own right, and recently he has been required to travel for long periods of time to attend trade shows and networking events. For the most part, this has been fine, as the kids are old enough now to mostly entertain and take care of themselves and I can keep busy with my own work and the household chores.

The only real problem is when nature rears its ugly head and a bug invades the house. Some spray is usually more than enough, until I made a horrifying discovery the day my husband left on his most recent trip.

I noticed some small piles of sawdust gathering on the floor moldings next to the garage. Investigating further, I found some small holes…and while peering closer, a bug emerged from the wall not more than an inch away from my eye.

After the freakout had subsided, I immediately knew that we had a major problem on our hands: termites. We were living in a house whose walls very well may be filled to the brim with bugs. I nearly gagged as I ran out the door and feverishly began searching for an exterminator.

Another problem occurred to me then: as much as I hated bugs, I still recognize their importance in the local ecology and did not want to introduce industrial-strength toxins into the food chain. Luckily, I was able to find a local company that provided organic termite treatments: Natural Science Exterminating.

Natural Science uses a number of naturally occurring chemicals that have been found to kill or prevent pests from breeding, including bromide and orange peel oil. These natural treatments don’t just kill the current infestation, they also help prevent new ones from gaining ground on your property.

The company also provides services a cut above the usual pest control business, with top-notch customer service and even carpentry services to replace any damaged wood. If you’re like me and cannot stand the thought of sharing living space with bugs and critters for even a minute, do yourself a favor and get in contact with Natural Science today:
