I try not to judge anyone’s parenting, but when it comes to celebrities, I often find myself torn.

I’ll be scrolling my social media newsfeed only to be presented with a headline about how Alicia Silverstone apparently mimics animal sleeping arrangements, co-sleeping to this day with her 11-year-old son. Tune into reality show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” and you’ll learn that Kourtney Kardashian serves her children gluten-free pizza and had almost made one of her children’s candy-themed birthday entirely sugar-free.

And of course, there is the ultimate celebrity parent who can’t seem to stop making headlines: Gwenyth Paltrow. She practically foreshadowed her unconventional parenting with the naming of her very first child, Apple. That was before she built her empire, Goop, which reportedly bases many of their claims on pseudoscience.

Needless to say, I believe in bathing children at least daily. I haven’t co-slept with my children since they were babies; I tucked them into their cribs. I haven’t and won’t be naming any of my children fruit. 

I think that celebrities are out of touch with a lot of things in life, and perhaps the news about oddities of their parenting is just the surface of what we regular folks find unconventional—or weird—about them.
